A few quick drawings to get me started looking at images of Fever Ray in different masks, i'm not very good at drawing but oh well here goes... watch out for the dodgy eyes on the second drawing argh.

Mask & Reveal
fever ray uses costumes within her videos and live shows to mask her identity and to create a dark, magical sometimes creepy atmosphere. my idea for the 'wrap it up' brief is to create packaging using the images of the masks and costumes to reveal something, an identity, when the package is opened. for this i have looked at the packages and worked out what is hidden and revealed within the nets. i thought about using acetate so that the outer design would cover the product inside but my ideas for this would prove too difficult for a one week brief.
i would like to use die cutting to reveal the inside of the packaging as i think this would work well with my idea!

Constructing Packaging
todays session with lorenzo we spent constructing the nets we had been given for the Wrap It brief. the packaging nets were split into 5 groups ... I love crafting so really enjoyed the morning, it allowed us to get stuck back into some design practice work and put our designs hats back on, the majority of nets were quite easy to construct apart from the hexagon folding net which was abit tricky. from the 15 made i have chosen 5, 1 from each group which i will then narrow down to 3 final solutions!
My ideas for 1 word 1 image.
Experience
Emotion
Light
looking at the light show recreate this by placing lights into the packaging and cutting slits for the light to shine through... this could easily become too much about the crafting and not enough about the actually print.
Mask/ Reveal
the idea for this stems from fever ray's many masks and costumes that hide her true identity. i think this could work with some clever packaging that could mask and reveal something when opened.
Stock
As i am masking/ hiding and revealing i am thinking about using transparent or translucent materials such as tracing paper, acetate or coloured celophane. In industry i would have used a thicker plastic stock but i am unable to do this in the short space of time.
OR
To support the structure better i could look at using a thicker paper/ card stock instead and work on cut outs (die cutting) to reveal instead.
'what i found so challenging about this subject is it is so difficult to explain through words, no one will understand unless they too have been there and experienced it for themselves'
quoting myself from my presentation this statement keeps cropping up all the way through my project and is directing my line of thought... what can i do/ Fever Ray do, that will allow us to share the experience we had?
could i send something out to the fans to create their own experiences or re-live the experience she had created.
how can i get people at home to engage with music on other levels, not just listening to the cd but creating an experience like ones at live shows

Logo idea
I want my logo to be based on the visual elements of the live show, looking at the light and smoke and how they interact with each other.. possibly bringing elements of the costume and mask in aslong as these do not over complicate things.
Initial triangle designs... using triangles as these connect to the shape of the lasers and a lot of Fever Ray's imagery have triangles within them

Briefing
Upto this point i have been looking at live music, visual music and the peoples personal experiences to this, i have gathered information on how people react to these experiences.
In todays crit we were split into small groups and explained our project so far, what we had researched and where we saw the project going, collecting feedback and idea generation from the others in the group helped me to indentify the key points of my project and where i see this project developing.
-I really like the idea of being able to generate a certain emotion so i would like to explore the science behind moods and emotions and how to control them.
- the news that the Fever Ray project is soon to end has really spurred me to think of something to send out to the fans to thank them so I will research into band merchandise
-i like the idea of somehow generating a mood through the merchandise, possibly interactive packs enabling the audience to connect with the music like at a live show... this idea then encorporates all my research so far!
