Deisgning the Brand
I want the logo to be based on the live show, elements of lasers/ lights and smoke... possibly silohuettes of Karin in a costume....
Looking at type
I want to use similar type to Fever Ray's typeface so i have started looking a typefaces to use, they use a rough, handwritten style font that i think will work really well with the handmade personal feel...
I like the Rabiohead best, i like how disconnected it is and the letters are on different levels. Below i have use the font for the title to see how it would look.

Name?
Up till now i hadn't even thought of a name for the pack, is it good enough just to put Fever Ray- the experience on it? Hmm.. i think it'd be a lot more interesting and fun if i created a new name that describes what the packs about maybe incorporating Fever Ray into it. I have come up with a list of names and will ask a group of people to see which name sounds the most interesting...
Original ...
Fever Ray- The experience
Ideas, exploring words...
Engage -
Create-
Experience-
acquaintance, action, actuality, background, caution, combat, contact, doing, empiricism, evidence, existence, exposure, familiarity, forebearance, intimacy, involvement, inwardness, judgment, know-how, maturity, observation, participation, patience, perspicacity, practicality, practice, proof, reality, savoir-faire, seasoning, sense, skill, sophistication, strife, struggle, training, trial, understanding, wisdom, worldliness
Playing around with the idea of 'catch' being similar to engage... also being able to catch a fever (fever ray), catching the fever will mean you become part of it. A fever effects you physically and mentally and spreads quickly.
Final ideas...
(using 'the' instead of 'a' Fever gives the word Fever an identity)
Catch the Fever
Caught the Fever
Spread the Fever

Embossing
Today Lorenzo showed us how to create embossed materials at home, i found the quick tutorial really helpful as i didn't realise how simple it was to create. Using imagery connecting to my project i tried the process out for myself.
Embossing laser beams!
The embossed image isn't as neat as i would have liked it but for a first go i think its pretty good, its difficult to emboss around a complex pattern so if i were to use this process i would try it with a simpler shape. I would like to try this further on in my investigation as i think it would create a beautiful quality to my work and add those higher quality features that i need for a special edition packaging.
Drawing with light
Lastnight we went to my friends house for tea, David Lindsay, he's a professional photographer based in leeds and studied at our art college. Seen as though its coming up to bonfire night i thought we'd treat us all by buying some sparklers... i wish i'd baught lots more now. Dave's always looking for a great chance to take some photo's so was quick to suggest some sparkler art :) we each had two sparklers each to blast some art around the garden.. here's a few of mine below. I might use them for my Blog titles as they're currently non-existent eek.
I started off with my name getting a feel for how much time i had, how it would appear and how much space i could use.
I tried to create a tree, its funny how people don't know what it is until it appears in the camera
The single flower makes the garden come alive
I wanted my form to appear in the image, it looks like i'm trapped in a cage
From the single flower i had the idea of making a garden of flowers by running around the garden to different positions to draw the flowers, it makes them appear alive!
This last one was quite difficult to do ..i had 15 seconds to draw around all the guys in a line, the idea was to make them look like a human paperchain. a few trouser burns and a poke in the face later it worked and looks pretty cool.
Whats in the pack?
Cd, masks, henna, incense, candles, lights, mood stones/ crystals, facepaint, invitations, instructions, personal message from Karin.
Engaging with music Questionnaire- outcomes
From my research i have gathered together a large amount of ways to engage with music, not all of them connect with Fever Ray but have been helpful to understand peoples connection with music.
Where i like to listen to music?
-in clubs and bars
-festivals
-live gigs
-in the car on long journeys so i can listen to a full album, i like how music makes me feel differently depending on the scenery and what time of day it is when i'm driving.
-in bed it soothes me and helps me to relax
-my alarm clock, i choose an upbeat song to wake me up and put me in the right mood to kick start the day
-on the go, i use my i-pod a lot, i find i engage with the music best walking or on the train
-at house parties, it sets the mood of the party and gets everyone in good spirits
-doing my work
-in the bath, to help me relax and de-stress
Items to aid engagement with music?
-candles
-friends
-a partner
-insense/ scented candles
-strobe/ flashing lights
-lasers
-images/ photographs
-costumes
-alcohol
-singing
-dancing
-playing an instrument
-drugs
More upbeat genres of music were enjoyed best at parties, bars, clubs, more sociable scenarios where as downbeat genres were better for one to one interaction, in the house, in the car, in the bath etc.
The most used aids of engagement were mood changing items such as lights, scented things, alcohol and drugs.
I will look at using candles and incense as these create light and smoke which are visual elements from the show that can be created at home!

Last typography session... or is it?
in this last session we introduced the idea of grids and using a number of columns, aswell as introducing an image and a heading. this was my favourite session as it gave me abit more creativity to play with layouts which i enjoy yet still keep to the rules we have learnt.
Final Resolutions
Envelope Resolution- when a letter is placed inside the mask has no identity, is blank. when the letter is pulled out the identity is revealed through the mask and becomes alive. eyes and teeth have would have been die-cut but for this project they have been cut by hand using a scapel.
